Documents in digital form
Always carry a valid ID or passport, as well as other documents required for your trip. It is definitely a good idea to take a picture of your important papers and save them on your phone. Make sure the photos are sharp and easy to read. Also upload them to the cloud and send them to your email. If something happens to the documents, you will have a backup that can be found quickly in case of loss or damage to the phone. Some destinations require vaccination certificates, so don't forget to bring these documents and their copies with you.
Track your luggage
Tracking devices like AirTags and similar products will help you track your luggage. You can place them in your purse, backpack or any checked baggage. You will have a clear overview of where your things are. There are cases where luggage may be left at the departure destination, which can be stressful. But at least you'll know where your bags are and have clear information for the airport staff to help you deliver them.
Adapters for electronics
It is very likely that the sockets in the destination country may be different from the ones you have at home. Many hotels and airports offer USB ports directly in the sockets, but it's worth checking what type of sockets are used in the country you're going to. Better take a few adapters with you. This will save you a lot of nerves when you don't have to constantly connect all your devices to one outlet. Three adapters are ideal.
Forbidden fruit
Before you travel, be careful not to pack things in your luggage that could cause you problems at customs. It can be anything from seeds and nuts to dairy products, meat, plants, herbs or even rocks and dirt. If you have any medications, make sure they are in original packaging with your name on it and that it is not prohibited in the destination country. Each country has its own list of prohibited items, which is updated frequently, so it's a good idea to check the official website before you go.
Water and something small to eat
During a long flight you will spend hours in the plane where the air is very dry. Take an empty water bottle with you (don't forget to have it empty at security) to fill up at designated points after airport control. Of course, drinks can also be bought directly at the airport. We recommend water or sports drinks to avoid dehydration and headaches upon arrival. Don't forget to take a snack, ideally with protein.
