Interim CIO/CTO for a Leading Retailer

Project overview

The client is a leading Central European retail and e-commerce chain. The project was delivered under NDA. For two years, Devcity held the Interim CIO/CTO role, responsible for the entire IT strategy, systems and technology teams.

Challenge

The engagement started during the pandemic. Physical stores were closing, online demand surged and the whole company had to switch to remote work almost overnight. IT had to keep operations running, handle the e-commerce peak and prepare the organisation for further growth.

Our role and solution

• Executive ownership of IT strategy and the technology organisation
• Moving the entire company to online operations and remote work – infrastructure, tools and secure remote access
• Stabilising and scaling e-commerce platforms for significantly higher traffic
• Reorganising teams, introducing modern management and aligning IT with leadership priorities
• Managing vendors and budget, and hiring key internal roles

Outcome

The company moved to remote work without disrupting operations and e-commerce held up during peaks. After two years, we handed over a stabilised IT organisation to permanent leadership.
